What are the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with swainsonine (SW) biosynthesis in Alternaria oxytropis OW7.8 and its swnR knockout mutant (∆swnR)?
Label:chem
Topic
To elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying swainsonine (SW) biosynthesis in Alternaria oxytropis OW7.8, transcriptomic analysis was performed to identify genes that are differentially expressed between the wild-type strain and the swnR knockout mutant (∆swnR).

Answer
Transcriptomic analysis identified 2997 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between A. oxytropis OW7.8 and ∆swnR, with 1555 upregulated and 1442 downregulated genes. Six DEGs closely associated with SW biosynthesis were identified: P5CR, swnR, swnK, swnH2, and swnH1 were downregulated, while the sac gene was upregulated in ∆swnR compared to the wild-type strain. These findings provide insights into the genetic regulation of SW biosynthesis in A. oxytropis OW7.8.
