How does almorexant affect hormone levels in healthy male subjects?
Label:chem
Topic
A study investigated the effects of almorexant on various hormones, including testosterone, ACTH, DHEA, DHT, TSH, T3, T4, FSH, LH, prolactin, ghrelin, cortisol, inhibin B, and leptin.
Answer
Almorexant administration for 4 weeks did not significantly affect most hormone levels. However, a slight decrease in testosterone and ACTH levels was observed, but these changes were not considered clinically relevant. The mean testosterone concentration decreased in the almorexant group, but the active metabolite DHT did not show a decrease. ACTH levels remained within the normal range and did not affect cortisol levels.
