What is the role of meta-topolin in the in vitro multiplication and quality improvement of Húsvéti Rozmaring apple scion shoots?
Label:chem
Topic
Meta-topolin (mT) is a cytokinin, a type of plant growth regulator, that has been shown to be effective in promoting shoot multiplication and improving shoot quality in various plant species. Cytokinins play a crucial role in cell division, organogenesis, and suppressing apical dominance, which enhances shoot formation from lateral buds. The study investigates the effects of different cytokinins, including meta-topolin, on the in vitro shoot multiplication and quality of Húsvéti Rozmaring apple scion.
Answer
Meta-topolin was found to be the most effective cytokinin for inducing sufficient multiplication (3.28 shoots/explant) and high-quality shoots with lengths of 1.46 cm when applied at a concentration of 4 µM. It also increased shoot fresh weight and shoot length at 4 and 8 µM, respectively, resulting in high-quality in vitro developed shoots with large, well-expanded leaves. Meta-topolin is recommended as an alternative cytokinin for multiplication of in vitro shoots of high quality from the axillary bud of Húsvéti Rozmaring apple at 4 µM and for shoot elongation at 8 µM.
