How does benzyladenine riboside (BAR) influence the in vitro shoot multiplication and quality of Húsvéti Rozmaring apple scion?
Label:chem
Topic
Benzyladenine riboside (BAR) is a derivative of benzyladenine and has been explored as an alternative to BA for shoot multiplication in plant tissue culture. The study investigates the effects of BAR on the in vitro shoot multiplication and quality of Húsvéti Rozmaring apple scion.
Answer
BAR was effective in increasing the multiplication rate, with the highest number of shoots (4.76 shoots/explant) achieved at a concentration of 8 µM. However, BAR also caused thickened stem development with tiny leaves, similar to the effects observed with BA. Therefore, while BAR can enhance shoot multiplication, it may also lead to undesirable shoot quality characteristics.
