How did fenfluramine affect the acquisition and expression of conditioned fear in rats?
Label:chem
Topic
Some study investigated the impact of fenfluramine on fear acquisition and expression, including different doses and administration times.
Answer
Fenfluramine (5 mg/kg) administered prior to the acquisition of conditioned fear reduced freezing during foot shocks and at subsequent re-exposure to the context. Doses of 0.5 mg/kg and 1 mg/kg had no significant effect. When administered before the expression of conditioned fear, fenfluramine at doses ≥0.5 mg/kg reduced freezing in a dose-dependent manner. Fenfluramine (5 mg/kg) administered immediately after fear acquisition did not impact the subsequent expression of conditioned fear.
