Perampanel (Fycompa®) is an antiepileptic drug. It is a non-competitive alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) glutamate receptor antagonist and also acts as an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. It is the first drug of its kind to be approved by the FDA.

Perampanel (Fycompa®) is an antiepileptic medication used to treat generalized seizure disorders and partial onset seizures. It is a non-competitive alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) glutamate receptor antagonist and also acts directly and indirectly as an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist. It is the first drug in its class approved by the FDA. It is approved as an adjunctive therapy for patients 12 years and older with epilepsy, and as monotherapy for partial onset seizures in patients as young as 4 years of age.
