Is JNK/SAPK activation associated with rokitamycin-induced apoptosis?
Label:chem
Topic
The c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)/stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) pathway is involved in stress responses and can induce apoptosis. This study explores whether JNK/SAPK activation is required for rokitamycin-induced apoptosis.

Answer
The study shows that JNK/SAPK activation is not required for rokitamycin-induced apoptosis. While rokitamycin does activate JNK/SAPK, this activation is independent of the apoptotic pathway. The JNK inhibitor blocks JNK/SAPK activation but does not prevent DNA fragmentation, indicating that JNK/SAPK activation is not essential for rokitamycin-induced apoptosis.
