Does combining diazepam with low-frequency rTMS produce additive or synergistic suppression of Ca²⁺ elevation?
Label:chem
Topic
Both diazepam and low-frequency rTMS individually dampen epileptiform Ca²⁺ transients; their combined effect had not previously been examined in vitro.
Answer
Simultaneous application of diazepam (14 μM) and 1 Hz rTMS produced the lowest median %∆F/F (−0.44), a statistically significant reduction compared with either treatment alone (p < 0.022 vs. diazepam; p < 0.013 vs. rTMS), indicating synergistic suppression of Ca²⁺ influx.
