Which opioid receptors are involved in the antihyperalgesic effect of 4-methylaminoantipyrine (4-MAA)?
Label:chem
Topic
The study explores the involvement of different opioid receptors (mu, delta, and kappa) in the antihyperalgesic effect of 4-MAA, which is a bioactive metabolite of dipyrone.
From: "Dipyrone is locally hydrolyzed to 4-methylaminoantipyrine and its antihyperalgesic effect depends on CB2 and kappa-opioid receptors activation", European Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 874, 5 May 2020, 173005
Answer
The antihyperalgesic effect of 4-MAA is mediated by kappa-opioid receptor activation, as demonstrated by the reversal of this effect with a selective kappa-opioid receptor antagonist (nor-BNI). In contrast, selective antagonists for mu- and delta-opioid receptors (CTOP and naltrindole, respectively) did not reverse the effect, indicating that the kappa-opioid receptor is specifically involved in the analgesic mechanism of 4-MAA.
