Which compounds have the ability to induce luciferase activation?
Label:chem
Topic
One study aimed to evaluate the specificity of the newly developed reporter gene assay (RGA) by testing various compounds to see if they could illicit a similar response to recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH).
Answer
The compounds tested were bovine placental lactogen (BPL), interleukin (IL)-2, insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and epidermal growth factor (EGF). None of these compounds, at the same molar amounts as rhGH, were capable of inducing luciferase activation, indicating the excellent specificity of the RGA.
