How does the reaction temperature influence the conversion of furfural and the yield of cyclopentanone?
Label:chem
Topic
Reaction temperature affects the kinetics and thermodynamics of the hydrogenation and rearrangement processes in furfural conversion.
Answer
The reaction temperature has a significant influence on furfural conversion and product yield. At 150°C, complete conversion of furfural was achieved with 53.3% selectivity to CPO. Increasing the temperature to 170°C reduced the yield of CPO to 28.4%, while the total yield for CPL, FA, and THFA decreased to 3.7%.
